I wouldn't recommend!
I love SpongeBob SquarePants. However, this sponge is not ideal for foundation application because it's dense and not spongy. It feels like you're hitting yourself with this sponge on the face. I don't like that. There's softer sponges out there to work with. If they can make it softer, it would probably work.
